Day 29 and we were back on the tracks again. This time
headed for St Paul, Minnesota, a twenty-four hour trip. The journey took us
through Glacier National Park via the Marias Pass, a route through the Rockies which was
originally sought by Lewis and Clark, but finally discovered by John Stevens in
1889 with the help of a Blackfoot Indian Guide.

Making Dreams Come True - Part 2
“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” – Robert Louis Stevenson
It's been almost two years since I blogged about my ambition to travel around America by train. At the time I hoped that 2014 would be the year I achieved that dream, but general life and the unexpected opportunity to visit Berlin over the holidays and then Rio later in the year meant plans had to be put on hold. Maybe it was just as well, because in the interim I have found a willing travel companion - my sister, who will come over from England this spring and accompany me on this great adventure.

Acadia National Park
Spending a few days in one of my favorite states – Maine. With
its seemingly endless miles of densely forested hills and mountains
interspersed with hundreds of lakes, there is just something magical about the scenery.

Running Towards Our Challenges
Yesterday, Drew Faust, President of Harvard spoke at theBacculaureate Service for the graduating class of 2013. Invoking images of the
Boston Marathon bombings where both first responders and civilians ran towards
the bombings rather than away, she urged the students to run towards the
challenges that they would face after college and immunize themselves from the skepticism
of “what can one person do?”, an
attitude which can so easily derail good intentions.

Making Dreams Come True
I was hefting weights at the gym yesterday
when I noticed this quote on the electronic message board: Dreams don’t work if you don’t (Club Fit). While obviously aimed at fitness in this case, it got me thinking about how much effort I’d been putting
into some of my other current ambitions.
