My third novel The Anniversary is due to go on sale in December which means at the moment
I'm deep into the editing process.
This includes reading the whole book aloud, a great way of finding those typos and awkward phrases that the eye tends to skim over when reading silently. With over 100,000 words this can be rather hard on the vocal chords though, so I'm trying to pace it over several days.

The cover design is underway
and I'm looking forward to seeing the initial sketches from Jonny Gillard, a
talented artist who seems to be able to take my vague, rambling suggestions and
produce exactly what I want for a cover.
I’m also ramping up the book promotion for November.
Silent Lies continues to be
on sale for $0.99/77p (or equivalent elsewhere) from Amazon – this is a limited
time offer so get it now before the price goes up.
Ulterior Motives is also on sale for the next week under the new Kindle
Countdown program.
Starting from a sale price of $0.99
at 12.00pm EST, Monday 4 November in the
US and £0.99 at 8.00am GMT Tuesday,
5 November in the UK, the price will gradually increase back to the list price
of $4.99 by November 11/12, meaning the earlier you buy it, the more
you save! To purchase, click here.
On Saturday, November 16, 2013, I will be at Chocolations in Mamaroneck,
NY for a book discussion and signing event, together with historical fiction
author Carol Dommermuth. If you are in
the area from 3-5pm, come along to talk books and eat chocolate! (Or, at least,
buy some to take home – Chocolations is an award winning chocolate shop.)
I’m also currently working on further book events to be held at
the end of November, early December – as they are finalized, I’ll let you know.
All this and I'm also writing the next book. While it's currently untitled, I can tell you it's a sequel to Ulterior Motives.

Sounds like you're on a whirlwind! Good luck with all your books.
ReplyDeleteThe challenge is keeping all the balls in the air at the same time!
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by Joanne.
Visiting by way of Indies Unlimited. Looks like you are very busy. Good luck with it all. Nice blog :-)
ReplyDeleteNot probably as busy as those doing NaNoWriMo - doubt I'll add 50,000 words to my latest manuscript this month!
DeleteHi from IU. Good luck with your editing and book launch.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by Dale.
DeleteHi from IU! Best of luck with the signing next weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynne.
DeleteI have been following you but stopped by via the Indies Unlimited blog fest to show my support.
ReplyDeleteKathryn, I think you must have been on my blog while I was on yours! Just liked your post a moment ago. Good luck with the signing.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the reading aloud, Mel. I empathize! Have you tried getting someone to read to you?
ReplyDeleteStopping by for a visit via Indies Unlimited.
Interesting idea, Kathy, but I don't listen to audio books and I think I would find it quite hard to focus my concentration if someone else was reading for me - I'd probably let my mind drift to the plot of my latest novel:)
DeleteStill, more than 50% through now, so the end is in sight. And all the editing notations prove that it is worthwhile!
Wow! You are busy. Sounds fun. Stopping by from Indies Unlimited.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Sherri. At the end of the day it is fun, which makes all those anxious moments (will anyone like the book? will anyone turn up?) all worthwhile.
DeleteGood luck with your book discussion and signing. It sounds like it'd be fun to do in-person events.
ReplyDeleteThanks RJ. I'd highly recommend giving an in-person event a go - it's nerve-wracking but well worth it as it does give you a chance to introduce your books to people who might not otherwise have found them.
DeleteStopping by from Indies Unlimited. As someone who's read SILENT LIES, I can tell anyone thinking about picking it up that it's definitely worth a read even at regular price! Good luck with your various promotions and the upcoming books and events.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Marla! And thanks for dropping by.
DeleteStopping by from IU to say hi. I like your blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
